Frequently Asked Questions

  • What are the steps to register?
    1. Get a headshot ready for all players you are registering today. 2. For all players being registered in the under 10s and up, please measure their height and weight & please don’t guess. This is a requirement from Rugby Australia’s for their Size for Age Policy. 3. Go to https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/ to get your NSW Active Kids voucher (refer to the FAQ question directly below for info on doing this). 4. You can use a web browser or the ‘Rugby Xplorer’ app – take your pick. If using the web click on any of the “Join Today” buttons in the age group columns above. They all link to the same site (https://myaccount.rugby.com.au/). 5. Activate your account via Rugby Xplorer (web or app; whichever you are using). 6. Link your children to your account. 7. Register your child to “Chatswood JRUFC” (Note: make sure the profile is set to Public and not Private; this is so we can allocate players to teams in Xplorer). 8. For Under 5s under “Role” select “Modified Rugby Participant”, for other age groups select “Player”. 9. You will receive a confirmation email once you’ve completed the registration. 10. If you are registering siblings then repeat the process. The family discount will automatically be applied. 11. If you are volunteering as a parent in any capacity, please register as well to be covered for insurance. It’s free to register as a volunteer. There are detailed instructions at https://cjrc.teamapp.com/documents
  • How do I get a NSW Active Kids Voucher to save $100?
    1. Go to https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/ … this is a NSW Government Services portal for all things government. 2. If you have an account then Log In or setup a new account if you’ve never had one. 3. Search for “Active Kids” and follow the prompts to apply. It’s too easy! You will need your Medicare card details for each player you are applying for. 4. Record the voucher number (Service NSW will send you an email with the details too) 5. Then click on the appropriate “Join Today” button above for the player you are registering. When prompted please enter your voucher number.
  • Can I register first and then get my Active Kids Voucher later?
No. At this stage there is no facility to retrospectively apply the voucher after you have registered. Therefore, in order to get a $100 discount on your registration fee you will need to apply for and receive your voucher before you go through the registration process.
  • Age groupings – how do they work?
The age group you’re in depends on your age at the start of the year. For example, if you’re 5 at the start of the year then you’re in the under 6s, etc. For players born on the 1st of January the grouping is based on how old you were on the 31st of December of the previous year. So if you turn 6 on the 1st of January you’re in the under 6s too.
  • Are all kids in the same team the same age?
Generally they are. Although in certain exceptional cases a player might be a year younger than everyone else in the team. For example, you might have an under 9s team where one of the players in the team actually qualifies for the under 8s age group and should technically be in a team in the under 8s. The practice isn’t recommended but it does occur sometimes. Particularly when a player has joined the club very young and plays with the same team as the team progresses through the years.
  • Do I select my child’s age or the team’s age group when registering?
If you child will be playing “up” in an age group above his or her chronological age this will be organised by our Registrar once you’ve registered. Inform the Age Group Manager or Team Manager for them to co-ordinate this. The Rugby Australia registration system only allows you to register your child in their ‘correct’ age group based on chronological age.
  • My child wants to play in a higher age group with school friends?
As a club we generally discourage this practice due to the potential safety risks of playing against opponents who are a year older. The style of game that each age group plays is tailored to the skills and abilities of that specific age group and from a duty of care perspective we prefer if players play in their own age group. However, there are exceptions to this rule and requests are assessed individually by the appropriate Vice-President and a decision made.
  • Can I pay the fees in cash?
No, unfortunately we cannot accept payments in cash. You can pay via credit card when you register on the web or a bank transfer to the club’s bank account.
  • Is medical insurance included?
Yes. Part of your registration fees are used to pay for the ARU Insurance Plan. This plan covers all registered players for injuries whilst engaging in rugby for the club; whether it be at training, during a game or overseas or interstate on a club tour. The insurance coverage is for medical expenses that are not in any way covered by Medicare and after reimbursement from your Private Health Fund. Examples of items covered include; physiotherapy, dental, hire of artificial aids such as splints and crutches, etc. As a club we recommend all players have Private Health Insurance as well.
  • What’s the last day to register?
Registrations close on Thursday the 1st of April but the earlier you get it done the better.
  • I tried registering but I need help?
Please contact the club Registrar, Cameron McNeil on 0401 213 909 or via email on registrar@chatswoodjuniorrugby.com.au.
  • Is there an App for registering?
Yes there is. Search on the Apple App Store or Google Play for Rugby Australia’s ‘Rugby Xplorer’ app.
  • What web browsers can I use?
Rugby Australia’s registration system that all clubs use works best with Chrome, Safari, Edge or the Firefox web browser. Internet Explorer doesn’t work so well.
